The cetareas are nurseries, old stone constructions on the intertidal margin to keep the shellfish alive for later sale. They date from the end of the s. XIX and were stopped being used in the 70s of the s. XX. A Guarda acquired an outstanding prestige by marketing high quality seafood and this recognition evolved into the appearance of an interesting gastronomy in which seafood products stand out.
