A Guarda is the first Galician municipality on the Portuguese Coastal Way and pilgrims enjoy the different landscapes along its 9 km route.

A Guarda is a fishing town that grew around the fishing port. It preserves its character with the facades of the narrow and colorful fishing houses. A good option is to park at the fishing port and walk along the coast quietly discovering this heritage.

The old town is located around the fishing port, a reflection of the seafaring past and present. In a pleasant walk you can learn about its heritage. Next to the Church and Convent of San Benito, you climb some steep stairs and access Calle Colón, an old street that connects the port area with the old town. There is an accessible alternative on Ireira Street about 100 meters away.

It must be taken into account that the town center is small and can be explored comfortably on a walk.

The urban area has an interesting and varied commerce that can be walked around. Additionally, on Saturday mornings the weekly market is held around the Alameda.

These houses were built in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries by A Guarda emigrants to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Brazil. A significant number of homes are preserved throughout the municipality, although those located in the old town and in Puerto Rico and Galicia streets stand out.

A Guarda has three parishes with three churches. In addition to chapels distributed throughout the municipality that have great devotion where their saint festivities are celebrated.

From this beach the Senda Litoral and the Sendero Azul begin and the route PR-G160 Desembocadura del Miño runs.

These beaches offer spectacular sunsets. They are small sandy coves surrounded by rocks and they are close and united thanks to the Cetáreas Route and the Blue Path.

These beaches are highly valued due to the properties of their iodized watersbeneficial for health, ideal for improving rheumatic and dermatological diseases.

As a coastal town, the panoramic views and sunsets are of great interest. The panoramic views from the mountain are enhanced at sunset when the sun disappears into the immensity of the ocean. Many visitors choose this moment to capture it.

The Blue Path connects the beaches of O Muíño and Area Grande, which represents almost the entire Atlantic coast of A Guarda, crossing the fishing port. This 5.6 km linear route links these two blue flag candidate beaches. The blue trail badge is awarded by the Environmental Education Association ADEAC in recognition of natural values and the commitment to their protection.

This pedestrian route begins 500 meters south of the port and continues north along the coast until almost the municipal limit with O Rosal. Along this 4.6 km route you can see the remains of 4 cetareas that are still preserved.
